About Aquatic Impressions

Hello, my name is Joe DeSantis. I started Aquatic Impressions in 2000 as a direct result of a deep interest in the tropical fish hobby which started at a very young age.

When in college working on my degree in psychology, I was also working 2 jobs at a restaurant and at a local Baltimore aquarium store, Exotic Aquatics. I soon began to realize that there was a serious demand for a reliable aquarium installation and service company so I decided to pick up a few customers, install a few tanks and took over maintenance on some existing aquariums and at that point I decided to take it on as a full time occupation.

For over two decades, quite a customer base was gathered ranging from Johns Hopkins hospital to private residences and numerous facilities all around the Baltimore metro area and surrounding counties. Every day since Aquatic Impressions was established has been a quest to maximize knowledge and improve skills and techniques related to caring for these beautiful creatures and their captive habitats.

I base my business on honesty, communication, reliability and a passion for the hobby..

In 2013, Owen Shaw, another experienced aquarist and design professional with decades of passion for the industry, joined Aquatic Impressions and has been an integral part of the business. We work together on new projects and with ongoing service clients to make sure that we provide the best customer experience possible.
